Hanuman Garhi

Located at a height of 6,401 feet above sea level is the Hanuman Garhi temple, which is a famous Hindu temple near Mall Road, Nainital. The temple is about 3.5 km from the Tallital Mall Road which is well connected by road.

The temple holds great mythological significance as it was built by Neem Karoli Baba who was a famous saint during the 1950s. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman who is believed to be the epitome of strength, loyalty and dedication. Lord Hanuman devoted his entire life in the service of his mentor and idol, Lord Rama. The temple has a huge statue of Lord Hanuman who is believed to be protecting and guarding the area and locals. A golden umbrella is also installed overhead the statue.

The inner shrine contains an idol of Lord Hanuman opening his chest and showing images of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita in his heart. Lord Hanuman, also known as Maruti Nandan, is the son of Lord Pawan (Air) and Anjani Mata. In the temple, there are shrines of Lord Shiva and Lord Rama also.

The temple is located strategically on a hill from where you have an excellent view of the Sunrise and Sunset. You can also have an excellent view of the Tarai Valley from the temple. Within the complex, on the other side of the hill, are the shrines of Shitala Mata and Ashram of Lila Sah Bapu.

How to Reach Hanuman Garhi Temple Nainital

The temple is well connected by road from the Tallital Mall Road, just 3.5 km away. You can walk to the temple or hire an auto-rickshaw or taxi or cycle rickshaw to the temple.

Roadways– If you are traveling by road to Nainital, Tallital Bus stand is the nearest one, just 4 km away from the temple. The Tallital bus stand is 295 km away from the ISBT, Delhi and 358 km away from Agra Idgah Bus stand.

Railways– Kathgodam is the nearest railway station if you are traveling by train which is about 32.7 km away. From the railway station, you can hire a private taxi cab or luxury bus to reach the Mall Road or Hanuman Garhi temple.

Airways– If you are traveling by air, Pantnagar Airport is the nearest one about 67 km away. You can hire a taxi cab from the airport and travel via NH 109 to reach the Hanuman Garhi temple.
